Our final meeting this year will be on Sunday, October 21st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Shirley Center Town Hall. See your member email for the address.
The gardening year is coming to a close and that means it’s time for our final meeting of 2018:
- delicious pot luck supper – see below for your assigned dish/beverage
- seed drop off – bring any seeds you’ve collected for the Spring Seed Swap
- fall dividends – if you can’t attend, be sure to have someone else pick up your bulbs
- survey results & planning for 2019
This is one of our most popular events – the food is always delicious & the meeting is an important one as we prepare for 2019 with discussion of survey results and input for 2019 (see details below). You’ll also take home your fall dividends and drop off any seeds you’ve collected for next year’s Seed Swap. So be sure to be there – and feel free to bring a guest!
Pot Luck Supper – Please bring enough food/drink for 8 (along with serving utensils if required) according to the first letter(s) of your last name. (Couples should bring two items or double the amount.)
A – C main dish
D – Fa dessert
Fe – G beverage
H – Mc appetizer
Mi – Z salad or side dish
Election of Leaders for 2019
At the meeting we will be electing our Chair/Co-Chairs, Treasurer and members responsible for Communications, Programs, Dividends/Container Contest, and Swaps. Please give this some thought in advance and decide whether you would like to volunteer or nominate another member or members.
Possible Votes
Depending on the survey results and a review of our finances, we may be voting on a dues increase and/or other matters in preparation for 2019. Be sure you’re there to cast your vote.
Brainstorming for 2019
And don’t forget to bring your thoughts for 2019. We’ll be sharing ideas for speakers & topics, gardens or nurseries you’d like to visit, field trips and workshops that intrigue you and any new activities you can think of. And we’ll be asking for volunteers willing to host a member garden tour – so give this some thought in advance.
Volunteers for 2019
A big thank you to the many members who helped during 2018 – this was another good year in terms of sharing the workload. There will be volunteer signup sheets on each table at the pot luck – so be sure to add your name for 2019.
Fall Dividends
Fall dividends will be distributed at the end of the meeting. If you are unable to attend, please arrange for someone else to pick up your dividends.
Seeds for Spring Seed Swap
Fall is the time to save seeds from your garden to share with your fellow Gardeners Exchange members next spring. If you have already harvested seeds, place them in an envelope & label with the name of the plant, color, height, sun exposure, perennial/annual, etc. and your name and phone # (in case we need to get more information about the plant). Bring them to the pot luck and give them to Judith. They will reappear at the spring seed swap in individual envelopes, ready to be planted. If your seeds won’t be ready by the 21st or you won’t be attending, drop them in the mail to: Judith Taylor (address available in member list or Janet’s email about the Potluck).
