The Gardeners Exchange program committee has put together a phenomenal 2024 calendar based on members’ suggestions!
It all begins with our first meeting on Saturday, February 17, with “Gardening in a Changing Climate,” presented by UNH Master Gardener Mike Koutelis. At this event we will also have our seed share and seed catalog swap.
On Saturday, March 16, Monique Bosch, Soil Health Program Manager for CT NOFA, presents “Soil Science You Can Dig Into.” At this meeting we will also be holding our annual houseplant swap. On April 20, Gayle Joseph of the New England Dahlia Society will instruct us on “How to Grow Dahlias.”
On May 18, some of our own Gardeners Exchange members will present “TableTopics: Learn to Ferment!”, a workshop on the basics and health benefits of fermentation, followed by our spring plant swap. On June 29 we will be visiting Mason Hollow Nursery for “How to Build Your Own Bog Garden,” and on July 13 we will be touring the native plant gardens of the Pepperell Town Hall and Library.
Gardeners Exchange member Anna B. will be offering a special program on Sunday, July 28 to walk us through her “Beginner’s Journey in Permaculture.” Our picnic and member garden tour of Judith and Scott’s gardens at their new home will take place on August 17. Our annual tour of the New England Botanic Garden in Boylston (date TBD) will round out our summer.
On September 21, Trustees Director of Horticulture Joann Vieira will give us a special tour of the Pinetum and perennial gardens at the Trustees property FarandNear in Shirley, where we will also have our fall plant swap and members are invited to picnic. Last, but not least, our annual idea swap and potluck in the Shirley Center Town Hall is scheduled for Sunday, October 20.
