On May 17th, the Gardeners Exchange will present “Propagating Perennials” a combination of slide presentation and hands-on demonstration by horticulturist Joan Butler. During her presentation, Joan will describe how to increase your perennial collection, replace mature plants, grow varieties that may not be offered for sale, and even produce new hybrids. Attendees will learn different propagation skills they can easily apply in their own gardens – including growing from seed, cuttings, and divisions.

Joan has long been interested in the natural world and has presented programs at botanic gardens, horticultural societies, flower shows, and numerous libraries and garden clubs throughout the northeast. She holds a degree in Geology and a Certificate in Landscape Management. She is a Master Gardener, a retired horticulturalist and a backyard birder. She is a former Chairman of the Massachusetts Landscape Design Council, a member of the Garden Consultants Council, an Accredited Flower Show Judge and past president of the Holliston Garden Club.

This program is open to the public and has been made possible by a generous donation from the Shirley Cultural Council, the local affiliate of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
