Event Type

Meet just inside the main entrance to the building at 10:15am so we can split into groups with the docents.

This 171-acre Garden, owned and operated by the Worcester County Horticultural Society, features a four-season display of the finest plants for cultivation in New England. Features include carefully planned gardens and collections of ornamental, edible, and native plants, tropicals and citrus in the conservatories, plus trails that enhance the natural features of this beautiful property.

Spring blooms to look for include thousands of daffodils (Narcissus spp. and cultivars), Hellebore (Helleborus cultivars), Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis), Common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis cultivars), Twinleaf (Jeffersonia diphylla), Redbud (Cercis canadensis), Great white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum), and Magnolia (Magnolia spp. and cultivars.)

This is the same day as the Garden’s Bay State African Violet Society Sale and Small Display, so be sure to allow time to check it out. There will also be a demonstration on “How to Grow African Violets” from 2-3 p.m.

General Accessibility
NEBG’s formal gardens are wheelchair and walker accessible. Some of the paths and walkways are cement, brick, and bluestone. There are many benches along the paths to stop, sit and admire the plants and flowers. There are some gardens that have small gravel on the path which may be more difficult to maneuver, depending on the type of walker or wheelchair.

Parking
If you are dropping off someone, please drop off your guest, then park in any of the open spaces in the parking lots.
