From Acton Garden Club’s Flyer:
On Saturday, May 16th from 9 AM to 1:00 PM on the monument lawn across from the Acton Town Hall, you’ll find a huge selection of hanging baskets, new and favorite annuals that will bring color to your containers and gardens all season long, many new and special varieties of locally grown hybrid daylilies, and over 1600 perennials. Because the perennial plants, trees and shrubs have been dug from local gardens, well-tended by avid and experienced gardeners, you can be sure that they are healthy, hardy in this area, and will thrive in your garden. There’s a great value wherever you look!
This year’s plant sale will feature our regular large selection of plants, most of which have been grown locally and come from well- established plants and dug up by savvy gardeners, so you know they are likely to thrive in your garden too. The club will also sell its usual complement of annuals to brighten your flower beds.
However, for those of you craving something a little new in your garden, you are in luck as the club is featuring a new table, titled “Eat the View.” Here you will find a wide variety of edible plants and herbs that are ideally suited for Acton’s local gardeners. The club will be offering both annual and perennial plants featuring disease resistant tomatoes as well as reliable growers like sweet and hot peppers, and bush cucumbers. There will also be a few varieties of the super food, kale. Look for a variety of raspberry, blackberry and strawberry plants as well as the more exotic foods like ostrich ferns and marigolds. This table is sure to please the eye, the wallet and the palate.
Get great ideas for creating stunning containers for your deck or patio. Experienced gardeners can help you choose the best drought-tolerant plants for your particular garden or the best plant for a difficult spot.
